Can It Get Any Worse?

January 5, 2011

It was the worst of times, it was the worst of times. By all accounts, 2010 was a very bad year – not only for me, but for hundreds of millions of people around the world. A horrible economy that dragged on for the third year would have been bad enough by itself, but the misery was exponentiated by the freakish weather and the upsurge in geological activity. The summer was the hottest, the winter was the coldest. There were floods of Biblical proportions in Pakistan, California, China and Australia. The mountains near Los Angeles got seventeen feet of snow. The midwestern U.S. got twenty summer-like tornadoes in one day in late December. The Iceland volcano grounded air traffic throughout Europe. There were two major earthquakes in Chile and one in Haiti. The list goes on and on. The toll in human lives and property damage has been unimaginable.

There’s something sinister going on with our society and our planet. Was all this tragedy just an anomaly confined to 2010, or is this just the beginning of a new and frightening “normal”? Only time will tell. I’m glad to see 2010 in the rear view mirror and, for the sake of sanity, I have hope that 2011 will be better. When things look the bleakest, hope is all we have.

Interesting times, and the real test of our endurance may be yet to come. We gave away many rights this last decade and I am committed to try and be a part of the change we must have to survive.

    In God We Trust ?

EXCEPT for our medicine! In FDA We Trust.

In 15 states we have legal marijuana, and in Tennessee we are taking children away from parents, destroying the lives of people for using an herb from the Earth. How can God be right about everything else, but somehow got it wrong on that!

There is not a day goes by anymore without hearing of a pharmaceutical drug related robbery, murder, death, and we ALL know someone affected by the Oxy Epidemic – yet, we do NOTHING! We have lost two generations to the greed and abuse by the Pharmaceutical Industry, and that includes the FDA, and Insurance Company’s that have generated Billions of dollars for shareholders, and millions of sad stories of addiction.

“Potheads” are not thieves, robbers, killers, or lazy. We don’t hallucinate or pass out at the wheel and kill innocent people, and we ALL know successful potheads because they are your doctors, and lawyers, teachers, designers, artist, and those video games you love probably came from a lot of good weed.
I have said that Tennessee would be the last holdout to legalize marijuana but if that happens we will lose another generation to chemical substance abuse. The others will leave because places like Boulder, Co, California, Arizona, are going to attract them for the simple reason that you do not have to risk jail or a criminal record over marijuana. I encourage them to go, and would help them to break out of the deadly drug culture that has engulfed Tennessee. It has taken their parents, aunts, uncles, and grand-parents, and it will take them because it seems to be the answer to our unemployment crisis.

The legalization of marijuana would create jobs in so many different areas, and there are many very talented growers in this state that could use an honest job where they can support their families without the fear of losing EVERYTHING! They can take your children away for have rolling papers in your possession – If you do not see anything wrong with that statement you are part of the problem. If you do not believe that statement, you are not informed.

I am in awe that we allow “pain clinics” to operate in our neighborhoods. If it was an Adult Book Store, or a strip joint the Churches would be picketing until they closed. WHAT IS WRONG WITH US??? I think it may be greed also, coupled with fear of change; but we live in a time where knowledge is at our fingertips and we need to step into the new Century. Educate yourself on the history and use of marijuana, and not to insult anyone but your source should not be Fox or the Southern Baptist Convention, and if you do choose to seek the FACTS you will discover the reason for that.

FACT: Change is going to come. The only question is: How many more kids will we lose in the process?
I remember a story about the difference in Heaven and Hell, and the only difference was in Heaven they fed each other, and in Hell they were so busy fighting to feed themselves they were tormented because the spoons were so big you could not reach your own mouth. All they had to do is stop and help someone else.

The Southern Baptist Convention has too much power and are able to block legislation to legalize marijuana, and I wonder how many of their investments make them money from the Pharmaceuticals? WWJD? Tell you Christians to get out of politics and get out in your community and help people that need help; and no matter what their color, religion, lack of religion, or sexual preference, and to stop slamming God’s medicines.
If you are going to use God as your motivation, PLEASE make it believable because the truth is Jesus may have used marijuana, being it is medicine; but I know he did not do Oxys or Zanex.
God gave us medicine, and man found a way to profit from it and that is when we went to Hell…it became about helping themselves.
The answer to many of our social and economical problems is underground, and dangerous; but the stroke of a pen could put this State back on a level playing field. Speak up, and save Tennessee’s Kids.

Damn, Girl! That’s more like an essay than a comment, but that’s great! Naturally, I agree with everything you said except: “How can God be right about everything else, but somehow got it wrong on that!” God gave us the herb but man taketh it away. Every time humans get involved, things get screwed up. That’s why I don’t take the Bible literally – because man’s grimy fingerprints are all over it. Unfortunately, legalization of marijuana is going to be a long, slow process because, for the ones with the pen, it is a political hot potato.

Can it get any worse? ~ I fear it can & it likely will……you didn’t mention the thousands of birds and fish that recently died…..
but combine that with all the other disasters you mentioned and we’ve got your End Times Diaster Movie…….or the End Time Prophecies of Jesus in The Gospels……(not any other Biblical Rhetoric) – he spoke of a bunch of diasters that would come upon the Earth – calling it “The Beginning of Sorrows” – but “the end was not yet” —-that of course being the Battle of Armagedon…..(call it what you want – we’re talking “The Cosmic Conflict” or the Battle of Good against Evil…..)

I think it’ll “come upon us all – like a Thief in the nite” —– for most of us will still be carrying on with our daily lives…….while those men of money, power & greed are already planning our doom……

Not mention the fact that even if the good people banded together to try to clean up The Earth now and it actually worked….which of course it never will becuz people can never agree about anything…..we have already Raped Mother Earth so badly I doubt She could ever be healed without Divine Intervention!

Sounds really pessimistic, I know……But on the bright side there is hope that 2011 will be better than 2010……I think Spiritual Enlightenment and whole new perspective of how to view this crazy world we’re now living in will be a thing that effects many of us……
and the insight we gain will strengthen us for the times to come no matter what happens.
